GP Companies
A GP Provider Company (GPPC), once created, is now able to bid for the provision of local services by submitting winning business cases that best match the commissioning specifications. It is vital that the GPPC is both a viable company (properly financed, governed, managed and administered) and a credible supplier of the specific services being offered. As a new company, albeit one created by locally respected GPs, both of these factors can be a challenge.
A GP Joint Venture (partnering with Harmoni) but owned by local GPs and delivering services under PBC, is a natural extension of general practice and the best way of GPs making a difference patients and the local health economy.
